How Much Does a Teacher Make an Hour?

The Truth About Teaching Jobs and What You Need to Know

A lot of people ask me the question, “How much does a teacher make an hour?” When I was in high school, I did not get paid for many hours of actual teaching. I worked as an after school basketball coach, and did some administrative work after school, but my paycheck was usually very small. It did help that my school was small because we had only a single classroom.

As I grew older, I decided to go to college and get a Bachelor of Science. I was pleased to have a part-time job, but it never made up for the lack of paid work. When I entered the faculty market, though, I was surprised to find how many hours I actually spent on the actual teaching of classes. I now have a Master’s Degree in Education and am making well over six hundred dollars per hour right now. Some folks make much more and others much less.

I also worked for myself for about a year before I got married. During that time, I made about two hundred dollars per hour. It was hard, but I knew I had a calling. When I got the Master’s Degree, though, I was surprised by how much more money I was making. I’m still making about the same amount per hour, I did when I was a high school teacher.

When I get older, the question to myself is “How much can I earn if I put in the time now?” The answer is a lot. There are a lot of ways to earn a college degree and a nice salary after you graduate. Some ways are through internships. Others pay for classes in their field.

If you want to be a stay-at-home parent or simply want to be a teacher, there are programs available that will enable you to teach online or telecommute. You could also teach full-time and just do part-time hours. Many people do both. With more options now, you can earn the amount you want to earn, whether it be a couple hundred dollars a semester or four thousand a year.

Another question often asked is “How much does a teacher make an hour?” There is no single answer that will fit everybody. You need to consider your own circumstances, the conditions of the schools you teach at, what kind of students you have and how much you love to teach. It’s not easy being a teacher and it doesn’t come without stress. Your day will start off with a good night’s sleep, then you have to get up early and prepare for the next period of school. You might have to bring a lunch to work, and you might have to clean up after the kids because they tend to ask a lot of questions.

Some of the factors that determine how much you make per hour are as follows: The age of the students, the number of years you’ve been doing this, and the hours you devote to this profession. The longer you’ve been working here and the more hours you spend on the job, the more you will make. For example, if you have been doing this for five years and you are making forty dollars an hour, you must be doing something right. If you are making thirty dollars an hour and you only spend three hours a day in the classroom, it’s probably not going to be long before you are earning less. This is also true if you have been doing this for fifteen years and you are making forty dollars an hour.

If you are twenty years old and you are earning twenty dollars an hour, that means you need to put in about two hours a day to make ends meet. If you are in the situation where you are having trouble paying your bills because of the economy, then you need to make up for it by increasing your hours. If you are currently earning fifteen dollars an hour, you can increase that number to eighteen dollars an hour and be just fine. With all the different ways that you can earn extra money, it’s not hard to see why a degree is so important.
